Post-migration egress usage

I've ended up racking up some surprising egress usage over the past month despite having followed the migration guides. Unfortunately, the guides only specifically make mention of updating from "DATABASEURL", so I was under the impression that other variables like "DATABASEHOST" would be updated alongside the migration itself. (I'll add that I'm generally surprised that this wasn't just resolved with split-horizon, but that's beside the point.) The application has since been updated and egress usage is no longer piling up.

Can I get some help with sorting out the billing side of this?

Railway sent out an email on November 14th 2023 warning users about the increased egress costs that result in using the public network to connect to the databases, they then offered a 100%, 50%, and now 0% discount on egress to give users time configure their apps to connect to the databases through the private network, there's unfortunately not much more they can do about the billing for this situation.
