Our Railway-hosted PostgreSQL service has entered a continuous crash loop and is no longer accessible. The service attempts to start, mounts the volume, and then immediately fails with the following error

repeated indefinitely:

ERROR (catatonit:2): failed to exec pid1: No such file or directory

Steps taken:

  • Attempted redeploy via Railway dashboard — no effect, crash loop continues
  • No recent changes to PostgreSQL configuration or schema

Your Postgres service's "catatonit: failed to exec pid1" error coincided with a major service disruption that affected image registries and all regions between 02:25 UTC and 07:57 UTC on May 20. That incident is now resolved. Please redeploy your Postgres service, and once it is healthy, redeploy your Backend service as well, since its logs show it was unable to connect to the database during the disruption.
