Hello Railway team,
My trial expired, and I have already switched my workspace to the Free plan. However, my existing PostgreSQL service remains offline. Attempting to deploy the database shows: “There was an error deploying the database.”
The original postgres-volume still appears attached. I need to export its latest data before the retention period ends.
I found a local backup dated July 28, 2026, and successfully tested its restoration. However, it does not contain subsequent changes, so it cannot replace the current database.
Could you please:
Explain why the existing PostgreSQL service cannot start on the Free plan.
Confirm whether a free recovery option is available, such as temporary access to run pg_dump or a secure database export.
Confirm the retention deadline for my existing volume.
Please do not delete, replace, reset, or reinitialize the original volume. Do not start my application backend or Redis. I am requesting guidance only; please explain any required changes before performing them.
I do not authorize a paid subscription or additional charges.
Please provide a secure channel if you need project identifiers or other private information.
Thank you.

Your postgres-volume is still attached and holds your data (~119 MB, state READY), so nothing has been deleted or is at risk of automatic removal while the project exists. Serverless is already enabled on your Postgres service, so the Free plan's serverless requirement is not the blocker. Free-plan deploys are blocked during peak hours (08:00-20:00 local time in the service's region), so try redeploying outside that window. We do not offer temporary access or run database exports on behalf of users, so exporting the data requires the Postgres service to be running. If the deploy continues to fail outside peak hours, subscribing to Hobby ($5/month) at your billing page will bring the service online so you can connect and export.
