Question about database migration from legacy to v2 and to railway metal

I'm a very low-skills website developer that runs a very small website so forgive my lack of understanding.

I'm currently on hobby plan but want to upgrade to the $20/mo plan. I think it's called Pro. I don't use anywhere near the datacap of the $5/mo hobby, but I feel like paying for the backup of the database is worth it as I'm currently using DBeaver to download a dump once per week.

So, I have 3 questions:

1) If I upgrade, can I backup my database right away? I'd like to do that in case something goes wrong.

2) When should I change from Legacy to V2 for my Runtime? I've been wanting to do it, but I was afraid it would mess up my database, or lose the data, etc...

3) Also, why can I only deploy to one location? I'd like to have the database hosted on Railway Metal but when I look for other options, it only shows US West (Oregon, USA) which isn't labeled as Railway Metal.

Hi there, happy to have you on Railway!

1. Yes you should be able to do this right away
2. You can do this right away as well. If you would like, you can create a test service or environment and see if you feel comfortable doing this
3. Think there are restrictions due to Legacy so doing so should allow this
