Railway Networking is not picking my DNS CNAME update.

Hello,

I am in the process of deploying my app over to Railway. I am trying to bring in my custom Domain (relentless.so) and both time after

  1. Updating the cname in namecheap.

  2. Confirm with mx lookup that that cname is propogated.

  3. Restarting my browser after flushing dns cache (dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder)

I can't see get Railway to pick up the propgation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Pranay

Hi,

Have you tried proxying with Cloudflare? They have much better SSL deployment and tons of benifical caching, speed increases, etc, all for free.

It doesn't look like Namecheap supports root domain CNAMEs at all actually

The docs mention that CNAME flattening is accepted in Namecheap

Oh ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I don't mind moving over to cloudflare but it seems like there is a bug in the dns propgation checker if MX lookup can pick it up, Railway should be able to pick it up.

I'm going to be honest… I've seen a lot of difficulty with those not using Cloudflare and very little with. I'm not sure what the root cause is, but since Cloudflare is better for MANY reasons, I always suggest it.

Okay thanks for the info. I'll move over to cloudflare and see if that makes a difference.

Not a good first look for Railway though..

@Sam you're right. Cloudflare DNS worked instantly.
