Do Railway PR preview environments get independent PostgreSQL
volume instances when cloned from a production environment?
I have a production environment and a PR preview environment.
Both report the same PostgreSQL service ID and volume ID, but
they have different environment IDs, public database endpoints,
and reported volume usage.
The preview database initialized PostgreSQL and successfully
applied all Prisma migrations.
Are the matching service and volume IDs expected because the
environments share resource definitions, while the actual
volume instances and stored data remain isolated?
What is the recommended read-only way to verify this isolation?
I do not want to modify or restart either database.

PR preview environments receive their own empty volume instance for each stateful service, with freshly generated database credentials. The service ID and volume ID match because they are shared resource definitions at the project level, while each environment gets a distinct volume instance containing its own isolated data. To verify isolation without modifying either database, you can query each environment's volumeInstance via the public API to confirm they return different instance IDs and independent usage figures.
