Hi there!

The reason you received $5 instead of $20 is likely due to updates in Railway's pricing and trial models.

Currently, the standard Trial Plan grants a one-time $5 credit to get you started on the platform without requiring a credit card. This amount is sufficient to run small projects for hundreds of hours due to Railway's efficient resource usage.

Why the confusion?

  • Outdated Info: Many third-party tutorials, YouTube videos, or blog posts from a year or two ago might reference older referral programs or pricing tiers that are no longer active.
  • Policy Changes: Railway, like many platforms, adjusts its referral bonuses and trial grants periodically. The link you used likely points to the current standard offer (the $5 Trial), even if the person who shared it originally described a higher amount from the past.

What you can do: You can check the current details on the Railway Pricing Page or your billing dashboard to confirm your plan status. If you have official written confirmation (like a recent email from Railway) specifically promising $20 for this specific campaign, you should reach out to the support team directly with a screenshot. Otherwise, the $5 credit is the correct current behavior.

Hope this helps explain the difference!

This is due to a technical glitch at railway's end. many people are facing same issue. reach out to railway team directly, they will definitely help regardig this.

Same here, signed up using the referral link and got only 5$

Your account shows the standard $5 trial credit, not a referral credit. Referral codes must be applied during signup and cannot be added retroactively. If you clicked a referral link but navigated away or signed up through a different flow, the referral would not have been tracked.
