Request for temporary read-only PostgreSQL data export after workspace restriction

Hello Railway team and community,

Our Railway workspace was restricted because a payment method is required. Both the application and PostgreSQL deployments are currently removed, but the PostgreSQL volume still exists and contains important production data.

We are not requesting permanent restoration or free ongoing hosting. We only need a safe, temporary, read-only method to export the retained PostgreSQL data so we can migrate it to our own server.

Project ID:

d8fcd382-221f-42aa-b9b0-b5108e143c86

Could a Railway team member please help with one of these supported options?

  1. Temporarily reactivate only PostgreSQL long enough for us to create a pg_dump.
  2. Provide temporary read-only access or a supported tunnel to the retained database.
  3. Generate an encrypted logical PostgreSQL dump for us.
  4. Suggest another supported recovery/export method for the existing volume.

Please do not delete, wipe, replace, detach, or recreate the existing volume. Preserving the current data is the priority.

No credentials, tokens, connection strings, or private application data are included in this public post.

Thank you.

Your Postgres volume data is still present. We can't provide temporary reactivation, read-only access, or generate database dumps while the workspace is in its current state. Upgrading to Hobby or Pro will restore your ability to deploy services and export your data.

Thank you for confirming that the volume data still exists.

The automated response does not resolve the issue. Could a human Railway support team member please review this as a one-time data-recovery request?

We are not asking for continued free hosting or permanent service restoration. We only need a short recovery window, or another safe method approved by Railway, to create a single logical PostgreSQL backup and migrate the data off Railway. We will not run application traffic during that window.

The retained database contains important production records, and paying for an ongoing plan solely to retrieve an existing backup is difficult for us. If a temporary exception is not possible, please confirm whether there is any lower-cost, one-time recovery option or an official escalation path.

Please ensure the existing volume is not deleted, detached, replaced, or recreated while this request is being reviewed.

Could a human team member please respond before this thread is closed? Thank you.

Your volume data is intact and will not be deleted or modified. We're not able to grant temporary reactivation, read-only access, or generate database exports, and there is no one-time exception or separate escalation path for this. The workspace needs to be upgraded to a paid plan at your plans page to restore the ability to deploy services and access your data.
