Technical Issue Summary: We are experiencing a split-access issue where our staging URL is reachable from some static IPs but fails from others.

Affected URL:priori-staging.up.railway.app

Network Details:

  • Successful Access: Connecting from Static IP
    nameserver[0] : 2401:4900:c0b2:c940::f0

    nameserver[1] : 10.243.245.187.
    DNS resolves correctly and the handshake completes.

  • Failed Access: Connecting from Static IP - 2409:4090:2041:8417:104c:15f3:ae8d:ed2b .

    192.168.31.1
    Users are reporting DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN or ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT.

Diagnostics Performed:

  1. DNS Check: The failed IPs are unable to resolve the hostname to a Railway edge IP. Switching to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) sometimes resolves it, suggesting a potential ISP/upstream DNS propagation issue with the .up.railway.app domain.

  2. Static IP Routing: We have verified that the failing IPs have no local firewall rules blocking outbound traffic to Railway's ranges.

Request for Clarification:

  • Is our service currently on the "Metal" Edge Network? We’ve seen reports that downgrading to the legacy GCP edge can fix specific routing/DNS issues.

  • Are there any known blocks or rate limits currently applied to the specific static IPs that are failing?

  • Can you confirm if the DNS records for this specific staging subdomain have fully propagated across all global edge locations?

The investigation found no blocks, rate limits, or DNS propagation issues on our end for priori-staging.up.railway.app. The behavior you describe, where switching to Google DNS resolves the issue, indicates the problem is with your ISP's DNS resolvers (Reliance Jio in this case) rather than Railway's DNS records. You can check whether Metal Edge Network is enabled for your service in the Public Network section of your service settings.
