Service Freeze: WhatsApp Bot Became Unresponsive Without Error Logs

I hope you are doing well. I have a service deployed on Railway that functions as a WhatsApp chatbot, built using the Baileys library and a ChatGPT-based module for generating responses. On march 5 09:04 am (GMT+4), the service became unresponsive for several minutes.

During this period:

  • It did not respond to any incoming WhatsApp messages.

  • No error messages were recorded in the Railway logs.

  • The service status remained “active” with no indication of downtime or failures.

  • Ultimately, I had to manually restart the service to restore normal operation.

Despite appearing normal in the logs, the bot effectively “froze” and did not process or send any messages until I performed the manual restart. I would appreciate your assistance in understanding what might have caused this transient unresponsiveness and how we can prevent it from happening again.

Apologies but this looks like an issue with the application level code. Due to volume, we can only answer platform level issues here
