Significant performance degradation after recent canvas update on Chrome Linux (Ubuntu / Wayland)

I'm running Kubuntu 25.10 in an almost 100% vanilla config, with the latest proprietary NVIDIA drivers, and the latest version of Chrome (145.0.7632.45). The canvas view recently got updated with some nice new animations of private networking. Unfortunately this seems to have introduced a significant performance regression (see video) on my system, specifically when expanding a build process. The entire page briefly glitches out while the build card is expanding.

When I change to "Show variable references", everything is buttery smooth again.

Not pressing since it's easy to avoid, just wanted to let y'all know.

Can you provide a link to the project please?

just checked on another much smaller project, there it's fine. guess it must be related to the number of nodes. 🤷

on gecko browsers the same busy project view does not glitch out when expanding a build card! but dragging the canvas is very choppy 🤷also fine in "variable references" mode. Full GPU HW acceleration is active in both browsers.
