slower performance since ~ Nov 18th (Migration to Metal)

I've seen a massive hit in performance on several Services since around November 18th.

No changes where made in my code. Throughput didnt change considerably either.

Has there been any limitations or changes to hobby accounts around that date?

Hello,

Looks like you are connecting to both Redis and Postgres over the public network, please connect to them via the private network.

ok! i'll try that

how would connecting over the public network instead of private network impact performance? i did the change but no improvement?

is it possible that my services where migrated to Metal and this impacted performance? dates seem to match.

Your web service is indeed on metal.

ok. some feedback then: performance is significantly worse on meta.

maybe the issue is because the DB and the Web service are now in different regions (actually same region but one metal and the other non-metal)

would it make sense to have a setting to change all the regions of services within a project?

Performance is not worse, metal uses physically better hardware all around.

You are perceiving increased latency as a performance drop.

If your application is sensitive to latency you are fully welcome to switch back to GCP for now!

would it make sense to have a setting to change all the regions of services within a project?

It wouldn't, services with volumes can't be moved to metal, yet.

switching back to GCP indeed solved my issue.
