SSL handshake failing with custom wildcard subdomains

I am trying to host my frontend project on a custom wildcard domain (*.tacticoapp.com). I followed all instructions listed here https://docs.railway.com/guides/public-networking#wildcard-domains, including turning cloudfare proxying off for _acme-challenge record, having DNSSEC disabled, and having SSL/TLS curent encryption mode set to 'Full'. If i change custom domain to specificsubdomain.tacticoapp.com, and set up a cname record that way, it works perfectly fine. It is just the wildcard subdomain that seems to be going wrong. My project id is 23a33ec5-8498-41bd-8038-201d8550267d. Thank you!

Any ideas? 🙏

I found this thread which seems to discuss an almost identical issue.

This is still an issue!!

Hello?😫

I would really appreciate some support on this if possible!

Is this something that’s possible to get support on? If not I will migrate away from Railway

I will tag in the team since in the linked similar issue the team acknowledged that there was indeed a problem with this.

I will also see if I can reproduce this behaviour today or tomorrow!

Hey Jack,

You are experiencing the same Cloudflare issue as the user in the thread you linked. Unfortunately, the issue at hand would be completely out of our control. You will need to ask Cloudflare to flush the stale TXT record.

Once they flush it, you can remove the domain from Railway and re-add it.

Okay thank you, I will reach out to Cloudfare and update this thread soon👍

Its working now! Reading Cloudfare forums this seems to be a fairly common issue. Thank you guys, big fan of the service 👍
