Hearing you believe that the migration had something to do with it, would you be able to confirm that all of the service images are up-to-date and no version migration is required? Some service images could have older outdated version tags that aren't supported with newer versions of services it works in pair with. If you're able to provide any frontend console logs in addition to backend logs and project service structure, or if this is an open-source program, I'd be able to look more into it and help.

This issue was solved.

To prevent similar configuration issues in the future, users with this error should:

  1. Contact the template maintainer (Henry Heng) directly and explain the specific PostgreSQL version compatibility problem.
    https://railway.com/template/pn4G8S

  2. Request that the template be updated to:

  • Pin the database to a specific version (like PostgreSQL 16.3)

  • Avoid using the "latest" tag which can cause unexpected version changes

  • Include clear documentation about version compatibility

  1. Suggest creating a more stable deployment configuration that ensures consistent performance across different migration scenarios.

  2. Consider collaborating with the maintainer to create a more robust template that can be used by other students in the course.

  3. If the maintainer is unresponsive, explore alternative templates or work with Railway support to develop a more reliable deployment method.

The key is proactive communication and seeking a long-term solution that prevents similar technical disruptions for future users.
