Subject: Proxy gateway auth issue (HTTP 407 on CONNECT)

Hi Decodo team,

I’m using your residential proxy gateway and getting authentication failures on HTTPS CONNECT requests.

Gateway details

  • Host: gate.decodo.com
  • Port: 10001

Observed error

  • CONNECT tunnel failed, response 407
  • Browser/headless side shows: net::ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED

What I tested

  • Multiple username formats (including base username and country/state/session variants)
  • Same password across tests
  • Target URLs tested include:
  • All attempts return HTTP 407

Please confirm

  1. Is my account enabled for residential proxy gateway access on gate.decodo.com:10001?
  2. What is the exact required username format for this gateway?
  3. Does this gateway require IP allowlisting? If yes, what egress IPs should I whitelist?
  4. Are there any account/plan restrictions currently causing auth rejection?

If needed, I can share timestamped request logs and masked credentials format.

Thanks.

It looks like this question was posted on Railway's support forum, but it's directed at Decodo's proxy service, which is not related to Railway. You'll want to reach out to Decodo's support team directly for help with their residential proxy gateway authentication.
