I just joined the project and was planning on getting the $5 for a trial period, but it's not working. I immediately get a message that the trial period is over, even though I have not deployed any project or used the service in any way.

Hi, could you please show us which action (putting the credit card, deploying something on trial, etc) is returning that error message, and what exactly the error message is? A screenshot would be helpful.
I'm currently investigating what happened, so any extra info would speed that up!

Thank you for your support. I registered, and added my credit card. At this point I didn't pay attention to whether I had a balance or not. I didn't know how everything worked. Gave access to the repository on github. To deploy the project I was prompted to choose a plan. I chose “hobby”, which is the minimum option. I didn't realize it was paid. The price was 5 dollars and I thought it was just the 5 dollars that the service provides for a trial. My card was not charged because I had less money on my card. 1 dollar was successfully debited and returned to my card. Then I saw that there was a “trial” and my balance was 0. I did not use anything and there is no information anywhere that I spent 5 dollars on anything.

Hello,
Yes the Hobby plan is a paid plan, it costs a minimum of $5 a month.
You are shown the monthly cost of the Hobby plan when you are prompted to upgrade.
If you would like to continue using Railway you would need to pay your outstanding invoice -
Best,
Brody
