Hello Railway Support Team,

I am currently configuring my custom domain waabooking.com and would like to ensure I am using the correct DNS setup for your platform.

At the moment, I have configured:

  • An A record for the root (@)
  • Planning to add a CNAME for www pointing to my Railway app

However, I need clarification on the following:

  1. Does Railway provide a dedicated IP address for root domain (A record), or should I only use a CNAME-based setup?
  2. If an A record is required, what is the correct IP address I should point waabooking.com to?
  3. Is it recommended to use:
  4. Are there any additional required records (TXT, ALIAS, ANAME, etc.) for proper verification and SSL provisioning?
  5. Do you recommend redirecting root → www for best compatibility with Railway?

My goal is to ensure:

  • Proper DNS resolution globally
  • Successful domain verification
  • SSL certificate provisioning without issues

Please provide the exact recommended DNS configuration for Railway so I can align my setup accordingly.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

Bipin

Your domain waabooking.com is added to your service and requires a CNAME record pointing to 2npnhbx7.up.railway.app, but currently it has an A record pointing to 76.76.21.21 which is not a Railway IP. We do not provide a static IP for A records. GoDaddy's nameservers do not support CNAME flattening at the root/apex level, so you cannot set a CNAME on waabooking.com while using GoDaddy's DNS. The recommended workaround is to switch your domain's nameservers to Cloudflare, which supports CNAME flattening and will let you point the root domain to Railway via CNAME. Our docs on adding a root domain cover this in detail.
