Title:

Unable to subscribe – need one-time PostgreSQL export before trial data expires

Hello Railway team,

My trial has expired and my PostgreSQL service is currently unavailable.

I understand that expired-trial services normally require a paid subscription before the database can be restarted.

However, I cannot activate the Hobby plan because my only available international payment method is a prepaid card, which is not accepted.

I am not requesting continued free production usage.

I only need to recover and migrate my existing PostgreSQL data before the retention period expires.

Could Railway please advise whether there is any supported one-time recovery option, such as:

  1. A PostgreSQL dump / backup;
  2. Temporary database access strictly for export; or
  3. Another way to export the existing PostgreSQL volume without activating a long-term subscription.

Please do not ask me to post any database credentials or secrets publicly.

If a Railway staff member needs project/service identifiers, I can provide them privately.

Thank you.

Your PostgreSQL data is on a persistent volume that is still intact, so nothing has been lost. However, we're not able to grant access to services on accounts without an active subscription, including temporary reactivation for a one-time export. The path to your data is subscribing to the Hobby plan ($5/month) at your billing page, which will bring your services back online so you can run pg_dump yourself. A bank-issued credit or debit card is required for self-serve plans; prepaid cards are not accepted and there is no alternative payment method available.

We understand the frustration, but the position is the same: subscribing with a bank-issued credit or debit card is the only path to access your services and export your data. Your volume data remains intact for now, so if you're able to obtain an accepted card in the future, your PostgreSQL data will still be there.
