Unable to wipe volume: Error processing request

I'm trying to wipe a volume attached to a service but it consistently fails with "Problem processing request". What can I do?

wiping a different volume in the same environment works fine. 🤷

i ended up deleting the volume that I was unable to wipe and then attach a new one. that worked.
