Unexplained high response times

Hi,

I’m trialing Railway and have noticed significantly elevated response times for all requests to my services. Here are the details:

  • Service Type: Express server, reporting 10-100ms per response in service logs.

  • Observed Latency: Requests from my PC take upwards of 1.5 seconds, with no throttling enabled. Requests from a corporate network (low latency, high bandwidth) show even worse results.

  • Testing Alternative: To rule out service-specific issues, I deployed a create-react-app service and experienced similar latency (>500ms), which seems abnormal for an example React service.

  • Environment Details:

    • Location: UK (limited to US Railway regions).

    • Services: Express server and databases are in the US-West (Oregon) region.

  • Impact: I’m considering the Pro plan to enable hosting closer to my users in Europe, but if these latency issues persist, I may need to revert to a classic VPS where response times closely matched service logs.

Could you please investigate the cause of this latency and advise on potential solutions?

Hello,

I visited the site and played around a little, never got above 500ms for any requests and I'm located more towards the east coast.

I would have to recommend going for Pro so that you can deploy your services closest to your location.

If Pro doesn't work out, you can always get a refund for the seat cost!
