Hello,
I am currently on the Hobby plan, with my billing date on the 7th of each month. However, it looks like the estimated bill will be about $22 of usage from October 7th to November 7th. Since this is above the $20 for Pro, I would like to upgrade to a pro subscription.
However when I click "upgrade" it says it will charge me 20 dollars immediately. Can someone explain how that works with my current cycle? If I'm already going to be charged 22$ for this cycle on the hobby plan, I dont want another 20 dollars for a pro plan now, that would be 40$ in one month for only 22 dollars of usage. Will the pro plan replace the Hobby for this current month (meaning it goes towards the excess)? Will it only start on the 7th of next month?
Any clarification would be nice.

Hey, that modal you're seeing is somewhat misleading. You'll actually be charged on a prorated basis according to the month. For example, if your billing cycle is 20 days and you subscribe on the 10th day of the month, you'll only be charged $10.
Thanks for your help. Does that mean my current usage above 5$ will also be flushed immediately and charged along with the remainder from the pro plan?
Or is it still pushed to the end of the month (as if I still had Hobby)

Unfortunately, I don't know how that works.

Hey Jane!
So with Railway, each plan has a minimum monthly spend, kinda like built in credits.
Hobby -> $5
Pro -> $20
You’re always billed at least that amount, even if you don’t use it all.
If you go over those included credits, no big deal! You just pay for the extra.
For example, on Pro:
Use $22 worth of resources -> you pay $22
Use $18 -> you still pay $20
Hope that clears things up a bit. Happy to explain more or clear up a funky area if needed 😁

By the looks of my invoice when moving from Hobby to Pro, Railway will charge you at the end of the billing cycle.
But still I would just recommend waiting until 1st of November if you want to be sure.
