We are getting failing builds consistently

Nixpacks seems to fail frequently. It seems to happen due to a fetchTarball package or this install phase.

Hey, I see the failure and then a successful deploy. When you encounter the error, do you simply execute a "Redeploy" and it goes through successfully? We're working to rollout a new build system that will make the build process much better! -> https://railway.app/changelog/2024-05-24-builder-v2-beta#builder-v2-arrives-in-beta

Thanks for getting back to me. 90% of the time that is exactly all I do just redeploy and then it goes through successfully eventually.

I have seen multiple other users report this too - https://help.railway.app/questions/nix-error-on-deploy-91c768e4

Thanks both, we're investigating

In the meantime @bmanquen, would you be willing to switch over to the new build system for this service in your staging environment? I think it's a great candidate since it's in US West, and I feel it would solve these issues. To enable it, you would simply set the service variable RAILWAY_BETA_ENABLE_BUILD_V2=1

I will give this a shot. Do I need to enable the V2 runtime and the new builder in the service settings as well?

Nope they are independent systems as of right now

I'm watching your builds now. Going to report the errors internally. If the one that's running currently fails, let's go ahead and switch back to the legacy builder (apologies for the experience)

Okay thank you I was about to do that after so many failures. It also seems like the logs aren't being completely recorded, the logs seem inaccurate or incomplete.

Infra team is looking into it now, will let you know what they find. Again, sincere apologies for the headache, but thank you for trying.. you may have helped us uncover a weird edge case :/
