Can you click "show breakdown"?

"Estimated Bill" is just estimated, it's what Railway might think what your "Current Usage" will be at the end of the term
25 days ago
It doesn't 100% accurately represent what you will be paying
25 days ago
True but they should still make sure that it's an incorrect estimation
25 days ago
How many days have you been running this service (or services) for?
Railway needs data to estimate it, if it's only been a day it makes sense that it's accurate
25 days ago
I reckon you'd end up with a bill less than ~200$ at the end of the term (your egress is quite high)
It seems your use case is egress heavy, if you share a bit more about how you are using Railway maybe we could help optimize things a bit
So if I end my services now, what will I end up paying after the term?
The Current Usage is what you'd need to pay at the end of the term (so far) so if you stop all your services and remove all volumes so that there is nothing costing you extra then you'll pay 5.65 usd
25 days ago
Don't forget the minimum 20$ for pro plan
25 days ago
Replace hobby plan with pro plan, and 5$ with 20$, same thing

So what I’m to pay will be the 5.6$ highlighted correct? It might turn to $600+ before the term ends is that what this means?
You pay for your plan's cost (in this case 20usd) along with any usage incurred (in this case 5.65 usd)
the first 20 usd of usage in your plan is free however, so you don't have to pay that 5.65 usd, just the 20usd for pro plan
25 days ago
Understandable honestly

In 1 day you've transferred ~85GB out of Railway, if there's a way you can avoid that you'll be running for very cheap. Railway recently launched Buckets (Object Storage) so you can store heavy files and save on egress costs
25 days ago
An example:
My usage for this month is 10$
The pro plan gives you 20$ of free usage
So 10$ - 20$ = 0$ (min of 0)
Then +20$ for the pro plan itself
You pay 20$
My usage for this month is 30$
The pro plan gives you 20$ of free usage
So 30$ - 20$ = 10$
Then +20$ for the pro plan itself
You pay 30$
Okay let me simplify this then
The 600usd you're seeing comes from Railway making an estimate based on your current usage, I can see you have a lot of egress - this means if you downloaded something from a service that was 50gb then Railway might think that this 50gb egress is a frequent thing and therefore will tell you that it expects a larger amount than you might have to pay in reality.
-# On the other hand if that egress didn't come from a one-off action then it's likely the estimation is somewhat accurate and could be worth investingating further.
Right now, if you pause all your services then you have incurred 5.65 usd in usage. I explained how the pricing works but you can think of it this way: You pay at minimum 20 usd a month regardless of what your current usage is. Meaning if your usage is 10usd then you pay 20usd, if your usage is 25usd then you pay 25usd.
Oh, so if I stop my service now, and term ends and current usuage was like 6$, I will end up paying 0$? Because my 20$ plan has covered it?
You will end up with 20$ as your plan is 20$
Just think of it as you pay the largest out of the plan cost ($20) and the usage cost ($600) - max(20, usage) meaning that if you stop the service now you will pay max(20, 6) = 20
25 days ago
You can ignore that, no services running means your "current usage" will not go up
25 days ago
And "current usage" is what is used for billing
Other webservice are still running, but the scanners are stopped. Does it mean i have to stop ALL service on railway?
the price is scary for me, and i have a mini project hosted on another service which doesn't encure much, scared it might affect me when i can't pay back such estimate… it's currently at $1000+
25 days ago
Can you show the usage of all your projects?
You can blur out the names if you want
Should be a bit of scrolling down
Just removing/stopping the top service would stop any further 'major' costs
25 days ago
The 6.84$ will still be included at the end of the billing cycle
i just want the 900 to move to 1.3 like the others <:leosmug:935610138151231488> … I"m okay with the 6$ it was worth it… about the 900$ lets do something about
25 days ago
The 900-100$ is almost definitely inaccurate
If the "current cost" for the top project represents the last 24h, will be around 200$ for 31 days
The main factor for the high cost is your egress, scanner/scraping is networking heavy so it makes sense
25 days ago
How many services are in that project? Are you using private networking for internal requests between services?
about 5 services are in the project
I'm using public networking for internal requests, the internal requests are for the postgres db
25 days ago
Internal requests should 100% be via private networking
25 days ago
Internal requests via public networking are included in egress costs
Hello guys, I have another question
I stopped the service that is costing me alot, and i want to downgrade to hobby plan, what do I need to know about that? Will i be charged for the usuage accurred already or not?

You will be charged for existing usage, yea
Personally, I wouldn't recommend downgrading to hobby plan
Since your usage is around 20usd, you might as well be paying for pro plan, there would be little difference in what you're ultimately charged if you downgrade (assuming you maintain a ~20usd monthly usage)
That is unless you downgrade to hobby plan you intend to use much less than 20usd of usage, if that is the case then downgrading would be wise
2 days ago
You can downgrade in Plans -> Downgrade To Hobby
Yes that is the plan, so when do you suggest I downgrade. Now or on 10th?
in my opinion: if downtime doesnt matter then you can get 2 extra days for free by waiting, but if you want zero downtime then just downgrade tomorrow

sounds good
