Hello!
I’m trying to create a Railway template using a public GitHub (open-source) repository, but I’m encountering the following error:
Unable to access GitHub repository Ensure it exists and that you have access to it.
I’m using https://railway.com/compose to create the template.
My goal is to base the template on this repo so that users can later “eject” it into their own GitHub repository when they need to customize the default settings.
If there are any specific permissions or configurations the repository must have for Railway to access it, I can open an issue with the maintainers to request those changes. This repo is widely used within my company, so we’d like to make it as seamless as possible for others to use.

Just an additional note: i tried some of the suggestions in other threads like re-connecting the Github App but it did not work for the template. Would everyone that use the template would have to reconnect their github app?

What happens when you fork the repo to your GH account?
(I think this might be a bug, but I need some help to confirm.)

Thanks for the response! Forking seems to work, here is what i did:
forked the repo into my account
Created a template with that repo
Deployed the template to a nee account (to ensure it works)
All of this worked fine. However, i would like to use the official template repo instead. Is there any workaround this bug?

I think it's a limitation from GH about repo ownership. I think this is a wont fix for now as this is low priority within the list of items we need to fix.
