Urgent: Restore PostgreSQL Data Loss for Project blackrent-app
Hello Railway Support,
I urgently need your help. Today around 20:30 CEST on September 5th, 2025, I accidentally lost all my data in my Railway PostgreSQL database due to a migration/script.
Project name:blackrent-app
Database type: PostgreSQL
Region: (please fill in if you know it, e.g. Frankfurt)
Incident time: ~20:30 CEST, September 5, 2025
I need to restore any available backup or archive copy of the database from before 20:30 CEST today.
I had configured R2 backups, but I am unable to restore them manually. Could you please:
Check if Railway has any internal archived copy or snapshot of my database from before this time,
Either restore it directly into my current service OR provide me with a link/dump file so that I can restore it myself,
If possible, also guide me how to restore from my R2 backups in case your archive is not available.
This is a production project and the data is critical. Any help in recovering the state before 20:30 will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your urgent support.

thank you for the suggested links.
Unfortunately, those articles do not solve my problem. My situation is different:
Today around 20:30 CEST, September 5, 2025, I lost all data in my PostgreSQL database (
blackrent-appproject).I was working on my app and website and I may have accidentally triggered a script or migration which completely removed all the data from both the website and the database.
After that, I tried to recover the data from my backups, but during the process even the database structures disappeared. I later managed to recreate the schema, but I could only restore the structure – not the actual data.
This is not an SSL certificate or connectivity issue – the data itself was deleted.
I urgently need to recover any snapshot, archive, or backup copy of the database from before 20:30 CEST today.
Could you please check if you have an internal backup or archive available on your side?
If yes, please:
Either restore it directly into my PostgreSQL service, OR
Provide me with a link/dump file so I can restore it manually.
This is a production project and the data is critical. Please confirm if you can help restore it.
Thank you in advance for your urgent assistance.

Hello,
I understand this is an urgent situation and losing production data is extremely stressful.
Looking at your database configuration, I can see that you don't have Railway's native backup feature enabled. Unfortunately, we're unable to restore data when the loss was caused by user actions rather than infrastructure issues.
Since you mentioned having R2 backups configured, you'll need to restore from those backups yourself. We don't provide assistance with R2 backup restoration - your options would be to research the restoration process yourself or I can make this thread public so community members may be able to help.
Best regards,
Brody
