“My trial expired, but I still have $5 credit. I need to delete existing projects (courteous-achievement and patient-passion) so I can deploy a new one. The delete option isn’t visible in settings. Please delete courteous project for me

Where exactly are you looking in the settings?

In the Settings menu, under the left-hand tab "Danger", you should find the option "Delete Project".
When you click on it, a confirmation popup will appear. In this popup, you will need to verify that you want to delete the project.
To confirm, type the following exactly as shown:

I confirm that I want to delete the project courteous-achievement.

After entering the text, click Delete. This should complete the process successfully.

The reason you can't see the delete option is a common situation. After the free trial expires, Railway requires an account to be on a paid plan (like the Hobby plan) to access full project management features, including the ability to delete projects. This policy is in place to prevent the cycling of free resources. Your $5 credit is for usage, but subscribing to a plan is what unlocks the account features.

How to Delete Your Project

The solution is to briefly upgrade to the Hobby plan. This will immediately enable the delete button, and your $5 credit will be used for any future usage.

  1. Upgrade to the Hobby Plan: Go to your Billing page in the Railway dashboard and subscribe to the Hobby plan.

  2. Navigate to Project Settings: Go to the project you want to delete (e.g., courteous-achievement) and click on the Settings tab.

  3. Delete the Project: Scroll to the bottom of the page. The "Delete Project" button will now be visible.

After deleting the old projects, you'll be free to deploy your new one, and your existing credit will apply to its usage.
