Question about billing.

Hi, I’d like to clarify how billing works. A month ago, I bought the Hobby plan for $5. This month, I used a total of $8 worth of services, but I was only charged $3. Why is that? Does this only apply only to the first month? Do I understand correctly that $5 was one-time charge?

Hey, the hobby plan is a recurring subscription for $5 that includes $5 of usage. Usage beyond the included $5 will be charged accordingly, otherwise it would be covered by the included $5.

You can read more about this here: https://docs.railway.com/reference/pricing/plans#included-usage

Nico

Hey, sorry for the late response. Let me break it down:

Let’s say I subscribe to the Pro plan on November 1st. Here’s what would happen:

I’ll be charged $20 for the plan.

1. From November 1 to November 30, I’ll use $15 worth of resources.

2. On December 1, I won’t pay anything extra because the $20 already covered the usage.

3. From December 1 to December 30, I’ll use $19 worth of resources.

4. On January 1, I also won’t pay anything since it’s still within the $20 limit.

5. From January 1 to January 30, I’ll use $25 worth of resources.

6. On February 1, I’ll pay an additional $5 for the extra usage.

And so on.

Am I right? Or will I be charged 20$ at 2, 4 - because I didn't exceed usage?

Hello,

You will be charged at every step because the Pro plan costs a minimum of $20, even if you only used 1$ of usage.

Best,

Brody
