unusually high RAM usage

My project deployment requires less than 2GB of RAM, but I got an automatic notification that I already hit half of my monthly usage amount in only a few days. I read that if a project is deployed, even if it's inactive, it still has RAM allocated to it. So then I deleted idle deployments and uploaded new versions after fixing bugs throughout the day. But then my RAM usage jumped to 5GB. What is going on? Does each instance of a deployment build take up extra RAM? Do deployment deletions not happen instantly?

Hey there!
Any deployment even if idle that is currently running and not removed will use the resources you have available.
You can look into serverless which can automatically turn off while not using! https://docs.railway.com/reference/app-sleeping

As for builds, they do not count towards your total allocated resources. The jump in resources is likely an application level issue and not something related to the platform.

So I actually deleted all deployments, and so in any given 24-hour period, the total time i had any active deployment would have totaled less than 1 hour. I have only 1 project and it has only 1 volume. When I look at my usage history, although it shows CPU, Network Egress, and Volume numbers for today, Oct 30, for RAM, it shows only until Oct 28 3:33PM.

Is there any way to look into this?

Looking at your workspace usage tab I see 1.2vcpu being used today at 12:53.
In terms of usage the billing aligns and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Can you check the RAM usage? On my end, it hasn't shown any update since Oct 28 at 3:33PM EST. Today, Oct 30, i haven't had any deployments at all and thus, I would expect 0 RAM usage.

All of the metrics I see are visible on your end. As this looks to be an application level issue I'll open this up to the community to give some advice on reducing resource usage.
